SOYJOY Awards Night

On Wednesday 15th of July, I attended the SOYJOY GI Challenge Awards night with the hubster, CJ (not in picture but he kindly took alot of pictures for me that night!). It was held at House @ Dempsey. Those that came to join me for the evening was my bestgal friend, Kay. (Above) and my favourite online galpal, Priscilla.

The evening was filled with a buffet dinner that was really not all that bad, I liked it. Along with a talk by another nutritionist about Low GI and then the announcement of the winners.

Nadia won by public choice by getting the highest number of votes on the http://www.gi-joy.com/ website during this campaign. Challenge #4 was won by Ivy with her cartoon drawing video. And thus the overall Judges choice with the highest points was Eunice.

Both Nadia and Eunice will be going to Japan this week from the 24th - 29th of July 09! Have fun girls! Soak it all in because if we won, we would have done so thoroughly ourselves. :)

In all honesty, am I disappointed? OF COURSE I AM! But life goes on and more opportunities will come again... and it would be great if you, my dear friends & readers continue to read me and share in my life as you have been doing so the past couple of years... :)

A picture with Nadia... and a picture with Rayner.. who knows.. this guy came out from the shadows as an Anonymous blogger.. whos' face was so secret. No one knew how he looked like unless they met him in person. He revealed himself in this contest so perhaps now that this has ended.. he may go back to being "faceless" again... will you Rayner?

And the girls who came to root for me in the evening.. Kay and Priscilla... *hugs*

Many many pictures taken together of course... Kay and me... and Priscilla and me...

And whats a blogger event without even MORE bloggers!!... Diana aka molemole came too... and I grabbed Ivy when she turned up to take some pictures together too! Who knows when I'll be seeing you again, Ivy? Right? .... our paths will cross again I'm sure... :) Thats me in my "Mamasan & girls" pose again... *facepalm* Apparently, if I take a shot standing in the middle now.. I am "the MAMASAN..."....

Pictures with Diana, DK, Mus and Jerrick! I'm sure you know these people! Its like the whos who in the blogosphere right now too!

And Lennard came with Suzane to say Hi and lend his support too! He's so sweet lah!! And DAMN!! why does my HEAD look SO BIG!!! ..... *grumble*

And the night would not have been complete if I didn't have a picture with one of the SOYJOY bosses, Pak Suhendar and SJ Marketing Manager collegue... (I'm so sorry.. forgot your name...*blush - paiseh paiseh*)

The hubster took this picture and there was a shot before this which had us standing side by side and he exclaimed "WHY SO FAR AH!! closer!! Stand nearer & hold each other!!".... (okay.. coming from my hubster... strange lor! -.-'')... so here you have it... the next picture... all arms interlocked & amused.

And once the winners were announced, they were presented with giant bolster size SOYJOY bars as their "trophy" - behind these pillows had the words SOYJOY GI JOY CHALLENGE - NAME OF WINNER plus an envelope with their travel itineries for Japan.

Rayner, myself and Ivy had arm rest sized mini pillows and vouchers. For a while, we took various group shots with our pillows for the media - namely Berita Harian.. and for other photographers present.

And a final group shot together with the SOYJOY banner before we left for the evening... :)

Thank you Otsuka and Thank you Ogilvy - Parita, Brian and Pat and the rest of the Ogilvy PR gang for the opportunity to participate in this challenge.

I have learnt so much, gotten to know interesting people and made new friends too so this experience has been priceless. Thank you.

A Virgin Attempt at Dying...

Dying hair that is. I was sick of having my duo toned, inner base strands dark brown and the lower strands a highlighty chestnut colour so I popped by Guardian today, chose a DIY Revlon hair colouring kit in a light golden brown and happily skipped home. $7.50 only mah! Can try.

Only to realise around 930pm that I knew NUTS about self dying and started to worry about making myself a BLONDE accidentally so I warned CJ that it might happen because I really didn't know how it would turn out.

I caught Shelly online over MSN and I started asking her a whole load of questions and she very kindly volunteered to come over and do it for me. So at 11pm at night, I loaded some garlic toast into the toaster for them and Shelly & Nash trooped over.

Aye, such is a friend indeed. Who would drive all the way to your house at 11pm at night to dye your hair for you leh?! *muse*

I got geared up in a top that I didn't want anymore and an old towel and Shelly set off to work on my hair with expert skill and efficiency. She gently smeared vaseline all over my hairline and my ears - so that it won't stain my skin.

I have to add that she didn't use the gloves on one of her hands so that she could hold the comb to evenly distribute the lotion and this meant that the lotion stained her fingertips a dark brown. And it REALLY STAINS! Like, cannot come out for a week to 3 weeks that kind! Knowing that she's quite particular about her hands and her cleanliness, it really touched me that she was willing to "get stained" just for me. *love SOB SNIFF SOB love*

I asked how she knew what to do so well and she said, "just by observing at the salon lor!" Wah! Power. Hhaha...nothing to say.

The whole process took about 1 hour and it was well past midnight when we were waiting for it to set. The boys aka the hubbies were getting along quite well in the hall with their computers and whatever they were talking about.

After washing it off, I put on the hair conditioner provided in the box and now my hair is sitting lovely and soft on my shoulders, finally ONE single tone and strangely, it followed my previous highlights so the highlighted strands from before are also lighter now. So I STILL have highlights somewhat!

We'll know by tomorrow how it looks like in the sunlight but for now, I'm glad that my head is now ONE COLOUR. And the deeper tone looks pretty nice as it is right now. :)

Thank you Shelly & Nash for coming all the way here. Just for my hair. *muaks*

Welcome Baby Noah!

Don't you just love babies?! They smell SO GOOD!! See him yawn? So cute!!!

My oldest *frm Primary sch* girlfriend Phoebe gave birth on the 8th of October, 630pm at Thomson Medical Hospital to her first son, Noah Chong.

Phoebe and I go waaaaaaay back from all the way to primary 3 till now. I remember her visiting me when I delivered my children and its come full circle when I visited her at the hospital today. Its really heartwarming to see my oldest friend finally become a mother to such a beautiful boy. *tears welling up - sniff sniff*

I know there will be questions to me as to since I love babies & their smell so much, if I would be having more children and the answer is.....

NO. But I leave the possibility of having a 3rd child open to a chance where if it happens then it happens but if it doesn't. I'm not purposely going out to make another one if possible. I'm very happy with my 2 girls and for selfish reasons. I like my independance, body, sleep & sanity now. So.. NO.. NO more children for me. :) Thank you.

For now, I'm quite happy to be Aunty Pam... to all of my friends/relatives/sisters? kids and help carry them in my arms to savour that soft sweet baby aroma that emenates from their head. And not poop/vomit/pee kinds of smells okay!!

Congratulations sweetie Phoebe!! I love you. May you succeed in breastfeeding Noah for months and months to come and that both of you be happy, healthy and loving always. :) *love love*

Happy Birthday Tristen!

It's Tristens' 3rd Birthday! Time passes so quickly! Didn't we JUST have his McDonald's party? Who is Tristen? Well he's my BFF - Molemole's son. Whoa lao eh!! LOOK AT ME AT LAST YEAR'S PARTY!! *faint* So fat!! SOO FAT!!! *Gah!!!!!!!* And this time.. signs of ageing on my face already.. crows feet! *scream again* Image below taken from the link above. See me in red?!?! EEEEEEyyuuuurrrhhh.......

And yes, I do face painting, balloon sculpturing and glitter tattooing for parties & events..

There was an insane amount of food lining her home driveway along with a rented playground.... 3 different caterers *30 pax of food ordered each*, enough food for more than 100++ people - catering standards *you know you order for 70% of the RSVPed people for a buffet quantity to be just nice* but YET, ALL the food was wiped out by the time the party ended. Whoa lao!!! I didn't take any photos of the food but I'm sure Molemole would have some on her blog.

And the party games had a pull apart PIÑATA! Everyone grabbed a string and PUUUULLLED! The box ripped apart and all the sweets came pouring out.

*GRAB GRAB!!!* All the kids attacked the treats on the floor.. later only did I realise that the poor Birthday boy, Tristen himself ended up SITTING BY THE SIDE quietly with an EMPTY plastic bag.. awwwwww!!! *pour some sweets into his bag*

My girls with their haul. Literally A HAUL... another child was even smarter, she SWIPED a full radius of the ground and gathered the pile of sweets in between her legs and then SLOWLY piled them into her plastic bag. Bwuahahaha!! Clever!!

However, what I realised today was that Lauren had strategically PICKED her treats, she took SOME sweets only but went after all the inanimate stuff like necklaces and finger puppets!! I was horrified and amused to notice that she had a CRAZY amount of these when they opened the bags to eat their sweets today. *blush*

Thomas the Train Birthday cake!! Yum Yum.. and yes, for good luck, I ALWAYS eat the cake.. even if it means needing extra workout the next day just to work it off... GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK!! Huat! Huat! Huat ah!! *Big Kiss to Tristen*

And presents! Birthdays are not birthdays without presents!

And the goodypack for the kids was a watercolour paint set!! Yayness!!! Art time soon! This was a nice treat... but WHOA LAO!! Must have been expensive larh!

And of course, since Molemole is a blogger, she would have blogger friends right? 3 of us made it for the party.

Who's here and Who's not?

Vanessa Tay from LoveoutLoud and her boyfriend *blue stripes*, Molemole of course, thats ME behind Moley *why is it my head looks like its just FLOATING there.... hmmmn.... and Krisandro from Life is a Joke, Laugh at it with his lovely girlfriend *blue top* (Staring closely - you know how compatible and potentially successful in the long term a couple is by how closely they resemble each other and I think Kris and his beau look great together! And so does Vanessa & her beau too! *ahem* and for AGES... people have confused CJ and I to being SIBLINGS! *Eeeeyuuk!! Gross lah... think incest... YUCK!)

Who's missing from this? Claudia and her boyfriend who left earlier... *I met up with Claudia today after she buzzed me on MSN about Zumba class after reading my blog, you won't BELIEVE how spontaneous she is! I was just about heading out an hour prior to today's Zumba class and asked her, JUST COME and you know what, SHE DID!! I'm so impressed larh! And she was pretty alright in class too! I love how she just decided to do it and did... I'm very impressed and love people like this.

Anyway........

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIDI!

*BIG BIG BIG KISSES AND LOVE FROM AUNTY PAM*

An Enchanted 5th Birthday....

My little girl turned 5 on the 17th of December 2007 and it was an Enchanted movie birthday for her and some friends.

We started the day heading towards Vivocity to meet the gang and catch Disney's Enchanted. It was the perfect show for Eirian as it had the whole mix of princess, fairytale, talking animals, dragons and catchy songs.

We invited a very select few, Diana aka Molemole with Shervon and Tristen, Sandra aka Twerp with Ian *his brother Kegan couldn't make it, he was sick! What a pity*, Wendy aka Arkerchi with Ashlyn and Averlyn, my mom in law and my sis in law with Gareth. All of which came to make the day extra special!

Here I am, on the way to Vivo with my very first pair of false eyelashes.. not a bad attempt for a first timer!

We headed to Golden Village, bought everyone tickets in the middle row. CJ loaded the kids with lollipops and candy canes while I went off to buy the bags of popcorn, nachos and drinks.

After the show, everyone headed to Harbourfront for McDonalds Happy meals! We requested for balloons too!

Here's Wendy with Aver having some home made food...yummy... it was Wendy's first time bringing both girls out alone and she did such a great job handling them! :)

Here's Lauren and Ian enjoying their happy meal. It so happens that Sandra *Ian's Mommy* and I were pregnant together for BOTH pregnancies. I had 2 girls and she had 2 boys. Her boys are both 2 weeks older than my girls respectively so all 4 of these kids literally grew up knowing eachother pretty much from birth and there they are now! Turning 8 this year! Damn!! *I'm getting old*

And Eirian, the birthday girl posing with her new friend, Ashlyn.

My momma in law, Cat.. with my sister in law Serene and Gareth!...

And of course how do you have a birthday party without the daddy! CJ... attempting to pose with a french fry.

And fried carbo... *droools* Must resist, must resist... who can resist crispy hot french fries!! Me!! *faint* (Attempting to sniff and lick the computer screen)

We all then headed to Breadtalk to grab a cake and Eirian chose a strawberry vanilla snowman cake. It was SO DELICIOUS!!! ... I never knew Breadtalk's cakes were good. THIS was good.

We then hijacked a table at the Waterplay area, battled against winds to light the birthday candles and gave her our heartiest Happy Birthday Song. Ate the cakes. Briefed the kids NOT to run along the water and away they went!

One last pose before they all headed into the water fountain for some water play. Whooppeee!!!
After about an hour of water play and with dry clothes on, everyone split up to make their way home or out for the evening while we lingered a little longer, pressing our little itchy fingers on the toys at Toys R Us.
Then it was dinner time! Off we went to a Japanese restaurant where we stuffed Eirian silly with her favourite sushi... and Ebi Tempura... Yumm.....*Drools.. I love California sushi too!*

And a final family shot with my momma in law and her 3 grand children... What a day.. and Happy Birthday Sweetheart... Mommy and Daddy loves u deep deep! ~

Priceless.

Moley kept her promise and brought over a HUGE pan of cheesy casserole today.

It was HUGE!! Double the portion of the pan that I passed her and we FINISHED IT ALL. bwuahhaahahahahaaa.....
It's just as how I remembered it.. if not better.. so many cheeses! Its crazy! Philly cream cheese, La vache qui rit, cheddar, mozzarella...and more and I'm still amazed that she takes ONLY 1/2 hour to prepare and bake it.

I'm feeling guilty that she made it for me *and it REALLY CHEERED ME UP ALOT THOUGH* because after doing some assessment of the ingredients...

HOLY FEEESH! It must have cost a bomb. Cheese is expensive and since there are so many kinds in it... argh!! Fresh Mushrooms are not cheap and it was not limited to button mushrooms.

Tuna at that quantity must have been at LEAST 2 cans and prawns ARE DEFINITELY NOT CHEAP AND ITS obviously huge tiger prawns and to fill it with prawns... its crazy...

Why why Why did u spend so much on me... *I'm feeling so guilty for agreeing to having it* *Sigh* *HUGS*

Such goodness in a pan and it was greeted with a whole lotta ooohhhhss and aaaahhhs from all at home (much to the disdain of my mother in law who literally ran away from me when I was trying to feed her a sample saying it looks "scary" -.-'')..

We topped off the sinfullness with slices of Vienetta Icecream...nice - I haven't had that in a while.. (And to those who were wondering why I could have ice cream? Its because I've broken diet because I'm sick, today is my lasy day though and I've settled almost all my cravings that Ive been having for the past weeks and I'm prepared to resume diet).

She brought over another bottle of Herbal tea too which.. to anyone who knows me know I detest the vile substance...but I gratefully finished it. *For my own good* I do feel better thanks to the cooling tea she brought over the night before.. *Sigh... thanks moley*

Like the Mastercard Commercial says...

One Box of Vienetta Icecream cake - $5.90
One Pan of Cheesy Tuna Casserole - $60 (I'm just guessing)
Two Bottles of Herbal & Cooling tea - $5

Me and my friendship with Moley... priceless.

Such a Sweetheart....

What do you say when your best friend just decides to pop by for a visit one evening just see how you are and pass you a bottle of cooling water when you're feeling crappy sick, and looking just as bad?

Skin pale, eyes swollen, throat scratchy, hair limp and nose swollen and peeling because of all the tissue wiping away leaky snot is definitely not a sight to behold.

I don't know.. but it sure is touching because I was not expecting it. None of my girlfriends ever did that for me before and the last I remember, only CJ has ever taken care of me when I was sick.

I stared at the bottle and she insisted I finish it before I slept. I finished it. Trying to rack my brains to ensure that "Cornu Saigae Tataricae" + winter melon is not remotely related to waterchestnut or I'd end up more swollen than a ripe plum.

Nevertheless, I feel so loved. Happy but embarassed because I didn't know how to react but all I could feel is this warm fuzziness. And she's bringing over cheesy casserole tomorrow can!!

Wah lau... *swooons....* Thank you moley... love love. I could say more but I'm just speechless... I won't expect visits everytime I'm sick with this as presidence but it was sure a lovely surprise on a gloomy day... :)
